ReNumber: gives frame sequences a continuous numbering
The VLab-Y/C video digitizer board sometimes produces faulty pictures (e.g. wrong
horizontal and/or vertical offset). That's where YBrowse comes in. It's a grayscale
thumbnail browser for YUVN frame sequences.
YBrowse has benn written very quickly. It's not an application, it's just a very
tiny program. Actually, to write this readme took more time than to program YBrowse...
so don't expect too much. Also, YBrowse does not use the official libraries to
access IFF-YUVN image data.
INSTALLATION: Just copy "ybrowse" to your C: directory.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
YBrowse lets you click on faulty pictures, which will then be erased from the screen.
On exit, YBrowse writes a file named "script" into the current directory. If you
execute this file ("execute script"), all faulty pictures will be deleted and
replaced by their predecessor.
START: YBrowse must be launched from CLI. CD into the directory that contains the
pictures. Then type:
"YBrowse <from> <to> <prefix>"
where <from> stands for the number of the first frame, <to> stands for the number
of the last frame and <prefix> stands for the base name.
Example: the directory contains the frames frame.0000, frame.0001, ... etc., ...
frame.2345. In this case, you would have to type:
"YBrowse 0000 2345 frame."
USAGE: YBrowse opens a 16-grayscale-screen (i.e. runs on OCS, too) and shows 6
thumbnailed pix on that screen. If all the 6 frames are ok, press the right mouse
button to see the next 6 frames. If you discover a faulty frame, click the frame
with the left mouse button. It will then disappear. When you're done, and the pro-
gram exits, just type "execute script" in the CLI.
HOW TO QUIT: You may leave the program any time by clicking into the rectangle
area at the bottom of the screen. Don't forget to "execute script" if you've
clicked faulty pictures.
HINT: Delete the file "script" ASAP if you don't need it anymore. Other programs
may interpret it as part of the frame sequence.
