Very little documentation on this one, because I didn't finish work
really. But it works (much better now) and so it's V1.2 !
Why another searcher?
Well, you may know the situation: you're looking for a file, insert
the latest Aminet CD and let the Find-utility do the work. After a
while, depending on the CD-drive's speed, it's back to show you on
which CDs the file can be found, no matter if you own that CDs or not.
My program does nearly the same, but
- you won't have to insert any CD once the program is installed
completely.
- it won't show you any files which are on CDs you don't have.
- the index-files have another format:
Aminet format:
AFData_DS9.lha biz/cloan 2K 3+PPaint Data for D-Space9 AnimFont
AIndex format:
biz/cloan AFData_DS9.lha 2K PPaint Data for D-Space9 AnimFont
- you can choose your favourite textviewer.
- you can email your ideas to me and I'll try to include all features
Requirements:
Amiga with OS2.04 and 68020 or above
Installation program requires RequestFile and RequestChoice (WB3.0+)
Harddisk
CD-ROM-drive
Aminet CDs (tested with 18, 20, 21, 22, 24 and Set 1-4)
C:Copy
C:Sort
C:Search (maybe these will be replaced by internal routines, but
at the moment they're a little bit faster)
Installation:
Installation script soon to be released!
Copy the whole drawer to any directory and assign AIndex: to it.
Copy the font to FONTS:
That's it.
When you start AIndex for the first time, go into the Config-menu to
set up everything. Now click "New Index" and insert the name for the
new index, don't use spaces. Example:
Type "Aminet20" (without double quotes, of course). The program will
now ask you to insert Aminet20. Insert the CD and AIndex will create
a new index which will be saved to "AIndex:Lists/Aminet20" and the
line "Aminet20" will be added to "AIndex:AIndex.lst". Now you can use
the "Search" gadget to see if everything works.
There will be a CLI-interface soon if you want to use AIndex
from within directory-tools like DOpus, Filer, DirWork,...
The most important CLI-command is already included, try this:
AIndex search <pattern>
Next version (V2.x) will have case-sensitivity :)

V1.11 (17.05.98) You cannot search for pattern LHA/.LHA anymore.
When pressing abort in an inputbox AIndex went on

Known bugs
All known bugs removed... ...until the next ones appear ;)
