What is ITRANS?

In short, it is a printing system for Indian language scripts such as Hindi,
Sanskrit and Marathi ("Devanagari"), Gujarati, Bengali, Punjabi ("Gurmukhi"),
Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Romanized Sanskrit.
Though it is a printing system, on-line viewing is possible via the fonts
provided. The input file is processed by the supplied binary "itrans" and the
output can be specified to be either a
* TeX file for further processing by the LaTeX system,
* PostScript file for printing or on-line viewing by GS, Post or HWGPost
* HTML file for the web (currently cannot be viewed by any Amiga browser since
it needs support for the <FONT FACE> tag)
What is in this archive?
-----------------------
This is *not* the complete package; it contains only the Amiga binary
which was ported by me. You still have to get the original ITRANS package.
This archive contains:
itrans, itrans.000 - itrans binary (020+ and 000),
itransAM-bin.readme - this file (readme),
SHENV.Amiga - set up instructions for the Amiga,
Compile.Amiga - compilation notes in case you wish to rebuild it
Requirements:
------------
The binary was built on a A2000/030, OS 3.1.
You _must_ still get the following packages to be able to install
and use the system:
* from the GeekGadgets site ftp://ftp.ninemoons.com or an Aminet mirror:
* 'ixemul' library (and ixprefs) v 47.3 (or newer)
/pub/geekgadgets/amiga/m68k/snapshots/current/bin/ixemul-47.3-bin.tgz

Aminet: util/libs/ixemul????.lha (replace ???? for your CPU)
util/libs/ixemul-bin.lha (for ixprefs)
* 'unzip' utility to unzip the itrans??.zip archives.

* For processing of the TeX files: a working LaTeX system such as
Amiweb2c-2.1, or PasTeX 1.4l.
* For on-line viewing of the PostScript files, a viewer such as
GhostScript, Post or HWGPost.
* If you wish to use the Type 1 or TTF fonts on your Amiga:
Aminet:util/libs/ttflib.lha (and readme)
Aminet:util/libs/Type1_5.lha (and readme)
Installation:
------------
* Unpack and install the itrans52.zip, itransfn.zip and any other archives
* Install the 'itrans' binary in any directory that is in the search path
* Follow the instructions in the SHENV.Amiga file
* Follow instructions in the ITRANS package for usage
