This the fontinst package, a TeX macro package for installing virtual
fonts.  It is the software used to create the files kept in
fonts/metrics in CTAN. 

It is described in doc/fontinst.tex.

Description
-----------

The fontinst package is a set of \TeX\ macros which allows users to
install virtual fonts.  It can convert fonts from Adobe Font Metric
afm or TeX Property List (pl) format into Virtual Property List (vpl)
format.  These Virtual Fonts (vf) can then be used by your favourite
device driver, such as dvips.

Uploaded because someone requested it on disk from me and did not find it
on any Aminet CD (I don't know if it is distributed on the MPIII CD).
It is mainly thought to be used with ps2pk because PasTeX does not (yet ?)
support virtual fonts.
