DESCRIPTION
This update set transforms the "PPaint" v. 7.x program file to the
corresponding version 7.1b file. The installation/upgrade script
automatically recognizes and updates the following Personal Paint 7.0
program files:
PPaint 7.0 CD-ROM distribution : 681608 bytes
PPaint 7.0 floppy, imploded : 368100 bytes
PPaint 7.0 floppy, deploded : 684056 bytes
PPaint 7.1 CD-ROM and Amiga Forever: 684788 bytes
PPaint 7.1 floppy, imploded : 368416 bytes
Accordingly, the resulting file will be one of:
PPaint 7.1b (full size): 684996 bytes
PPaint 7.1b (imploded) : 368440 bytes
Cover disk versions are not recognized, and cannot be updated by this
script. CPU-optimized versions are also not supported: if you are using
a software version other than the standard 68000 one, you need to
reinstall the default (68000) 7.0 or 7.1 "PPaint" file first. After
upgrading to version 7.1b, it is possible to patch the 68000 software
to a version optimized for 68020 and higher CPUs, also available on
Aminet, in the biz/cloan directory. Please refer to the Amiga Software
FAQ at http://cloanto.com/amiga/classic/faq.html for additional
information on versions for different CPUs.
Version 7.1b includes fixes to a few minor issues of version 7.1,
most importantly the fact that double-buffering chunky-pixel RTG screen
modes were assumed to be planar (as per IFF-ANIM spec) when loading and
playing animations, resulting in possible memory corruption.
If upgrading from version 7.0, please note that additional files are
available on Aminet, in the "biz/cloan" directory, to update the
Personal Paint blitting libraries, the I/O libraries, the Rexx scripts
and the user interface languages. In part due to licensing restrictions,
these files do not include all files which are published on the Personal
Paint 7.1 CD-ROM.
IMPORTANT: Remember to back-up the old PPaint file before proceeding with
the update!
